It's really hard to know what to do when we're upset, angry or frustrated . Sometimes , sometimes we don't have to do anything at all. When we don't say or do anything, we don't risk getting backed into a corner. (see effects of stress on learning page). And if you feel like things aren't changing you might want to get professional help. If that is the case, do not feel alone, embarassed or ashamed. Millions of people seek professional help. THE TRUTH ABOUT SELF ESTEEM
Self Esteem is just an emotion based on the feelings that you have about yourself. How you feel about yourself isn't based on facts, it's decided by what you believe to be true and just because we think something doesn't mean it's true. We all have beliefs about the way we think things are or "should" be. These thoughts are the result of our own experiences and life situations which are different for everyone. So, If you don't think you're good enough, how can you be sure that this is true?
You could compare yourself to other people, but how do you decide which people to compare yourself to? There will always be someone better at something and there will always be someone worse. Constantly comparing yourself to other people would send you on a never ending roller coaster ride and you still wouldn't have any real proof that your not good enough.
Since it's unlikely that we're right about everything, then it's possible when we think we aren't good enough, we're wrong! I guess we aren't really even qualified to decide we aren't good enough! We may need to change some of our beliefs before we can change the way we feel about ourselves. The next time you find yourself thinking negative thoughts about yourself, isn't there always something good to think instead!
There are some things in life that we have control over and other things that we do not. Understanding the connection between cause and effect helps us to recognize why something is the way it is. It can also help us to predict what might happen in the future and we can make wise choices as a result. If you find yourself in a rut try to think about your situation as if it were happening to someone else. What would you think they should do differently? Would you see things a different way?
The Power of Habit
If you've ever told yourself that you’re going to make something happen and then it didn't happen it's probably because you didn’t have the right things in place – Do little things each day that will move you in the direction that you want to go. Gradually build up your mind and condition your body to make things happen. If something seems to small to make a difference, at least it's better than nothing at all!
